Originally from New Zealand, I moved to Australia in 1978 at the age of 21. I was a passionate advocate for human and animal rights and so it felt only natural to join the marches and demonstrations in support of gay rights, beginning with the pivotal June 1978 protest.

That event left a lasting impact on me, not only because of the cause itself but also due to the police brutality and mistreatment faced by many of my fellow supporters in the gay community.

By way of background, I commenced my working career in travel and tourism which required extensive travel, particularly to Hawaii and the west coast of USA. I later ran my own business for six years before transitioning into the financial services sector, where I built a long-standing career in IT and business analytics. Alongside my professional work, I completed a postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration, deepening my expertise in strategic and operational leadership.
